1.
Dust off – Northern Indiana Museum Crawl, Friday,
Shipshewana, Nancy & John coming early. John and Nancy to
look for cheaper locations. George Downs may come from Oklahoma! Both
the Hostetler museum and the Studebaker museum staff will give us a guide. Essenhaus is in
Middlebury www.essenhaus.com. In
mid-April, contact Paul Fletcher to get the list of those registering.
- About $700 in account. Not
expecting too many expenses, since the national registration has a budget
built in. Mr. Irvine requested that the “cake” for the 1800 Birthday be
covered by local expenses. Will order a cake from Costco and have a
“photo” of an 1800 on the cake.
- Some people are booking at
Bay Pointe for the weekdays before. Wednesday will be a cruise in to
Gilmore and then to Bay Pointe for the Key West night. David is offering
to stuff goody bags at his house on Thursday night. VCOA continues to look
for a dinner speaker. Tim contacted Roger Moore’s agent, but he is unable
to attend. VCOA is talking to Pelle Petterson. Maple Hill Volvo club people will buy
t-shirts which are about $1200. Have about $1500 to devote along with
Volvo Sweden and US about helping with Pelle Petterson expenses to get him here. Rent a big screen
to have a presentation by Gary Ramstead (former
Volvo employee and VCOA board member. Scott Pepper has a trivia challenge
on Friday night. The hotel will give us the “bar” with the tourist bureau
answering questions. Kalamazoo tourist bureau suggested doing a cruise to
the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Kid friendly with a space shuttle simulator (rides
are at a cost, admission is free). Talk about doing the Model T driving on
Saturday AND Sunday. Discussed a “cruise” on Sunday around lakes south of
Kalamazoo and drive from the hotel around and then to the Air Zoo. Then to
Gilmore in PM for driving school.
- Dick is looking at prizes
and Gary is looking for goody bags (150 is the goal). Tim was in contact
with Rich Gordon of IPD. Review
list of additional sponsors. Dick - Tire Rack. Tim - Swedish Engineering. David asked JK Productions to produce a DVD
but they are unable. Photography-
guy from Wisconsin, a volvophile has been
recommended. Tim to follow up on
photographer as there will be a cost involved. Tim and Dick met with Clarion hotel in
Kalamazoo which is the host hotel and Maple Hill to ensure they are the
“host” dealer and will cover costs. Dick to drive up and meet with Volvo
Heavy Truck to see if they can bring one.

6. John Sandrock from the Eyes on
Design show at the Edsel Ford House is having their
annual fundraiser show on Father’s Day. They have asked to have “Swedish”
examples from the 1960s, such as 444’s, 544s, 122s, 123s, 140s, P1800, P1800S
models. Rather than open this up to the club and being flooded with John needs to
have cars selected soon and was hoping our board members could talk today and
get names fast. David has already contacted Michael Schultz and his 123GT is
not presentable. Tim is going to try to get some names of people in Canada.
Note that they mentioned interesting “cars of the 1960s” but these are any
cars, not just the Swedish ones. Let’s try to get him names within a week.
Respectfully submitted,
