VOLVO CLUB OF AMERICA
NOVEMBER 2011 NEWSLETTER
Come join us for our November chapter meeting on Saturday, November 12th at 12:00
noon at Clara's restaurant in Lansing. We have some interesting
things to plan for the coming year and would appreciate your input.
First of all, mark your calendars for the next
Volvos at the Gilmore IV event during the weekend of August 11th and 12th,
2012. Our "spring dust off" for 2012 will be held in eastern
Michigan (probably the last full weekend of April). We will see a presentation
by John Northup about places to include and vote on which to visit during
Saturday's meeting on the 12th. We are including a ballot for elections
here to vote for our new officers for 2012 and ask that you vote anytime between
NOW and December 15th, 2011. There still is time to participate and
have write ins. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5R92MQN
In October, I attended the West Coast Volvo Sport America (VSA)
celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Volvo P1800. Held at a spot
next to the beach in Malibu, California, the event was really fun to
attend. There were approximately 135 Volvos with 85 being
1800's… fun! David has created a link here to see
my pictures.
On Sunday, we toured the canyons and other twisty roads leading to
Thousand Oaks and the private museum of Mike Malamut. http://www.malamutautomuseum.com/
He even had a few Volvos. Hope you enjoy
the pictures. While there, I handed out many flyers inviting everyone to
the Gilmore event in August.
While in Lansing for the Saturday meeting,
consider the opportunities in Lansing for touring after the meeting. Here
are some suggestions:
Impression 5 Science Museum: http://www.impression5.org/
RE Olds(mobile) Transportation Museum http://www.reoldsmuseum.org
There is a lot more to see and do including visiting with your
friends in the Great Lakes Chapter of the Volvo Club of America
